Aeon Flux

February 13, 2006

If you’re a fan of the MTV cartoon, yes the movie did not follow the cartoons faithfully. But they got most of the basics right.

Charlize Theron is a hot babe alright! The change to black hair looks good on her and the outfits look great on her especially the black ones. I particularly admired the aerial shot taken of her in the black dress with the gorgeous slit and the boob netting.

Okay, back to the story. The first few minutes were a bit of a bore for some of the audience (there were some people asleep beside and around me) but there was definitely more meat to the story of the movie than there has been in all of the cartoon episodes I ever saw.

For  one, here a clear reason for the fight was given. I also liked that a clear explanation of what the ongoing experiments were, what really happened when the original virus struck, as well as what’s between Aeon and Trevor Goodchild. I love the scientific aspect explained so beautifully and simply.

Of course the fight scenes were also well thought out, if a bit excessive with the tumbling. Funny though for me is how again, a Jurassic Part line came through. The line you ask? It’s ” nature finds a way”.

Watch the movie! It’s good!

Extension of the King Kong Promo

January 8, 2006

Hi everyone! I was sad when I had to tell UIP that there didn’t seem to be that many people who watched their movie locally because only a few people responded. Then again, it may have been to the interrupted showing of  the movie due to the Manila Film Festival.

So, since the movie has resumed being shown today, Jan 8, 2006. I will also extend the contest from today until the January 18.

To be fair and because I appreciate the early response, I will give prizes to the previous entries already so Lyndon and Ginny need no longer create a new entry. That still leaves 8 King Kong caps and shirts for grabs!

So watch the movie and write about it immediately in your i.ph and link to this entry by a comment. What do you need to put in the comment:

1. The URL or link to where your King Kong critique is placed

2. Did you like or dislike the movie (1 line only please)

3. What movie would you like to watch next

I can only choose 8 and the field is now open. Watch the film and tell me honestly how you find it. Let’s influence the movies! Believe me, our opinion counts!!! Looking forward to your posts!

Hey folks! Great news! I have King Kong stuff to give away courtesy of United International Pictures. They are yours if you can give me interesting write ups about the movie, King Kong.

All you need to do is create an entry on your i.ph blog about the movie. Tell me how you felt about the movie: did you like it, hate it, love it? Which part was most memorable for you. UIP wants to know! So much so that they’ve given me shirts and caps to share with you. So please write, write, write.

After you’ve created your post, go to this article and leave a comment with the following details:

Your post entry URL (so I can read it), 1 line: did you like/dislike the movie, and what movie you’d next like to watch.

I will choose 10 lucky i.ph users to bring home prizes. You can submit entries up to Jan 6, 2005. Before I forget, you have to be a Manila Resident since you’d need to pick up your prize from the dotPH office at the 11th Floor Strata 100 Building, Emerald Avenue, Pasig City. I’ll announce the winners on January 7, 2005

King Kong

December 11, 2005

I got to watch the premier showing of King Kong last Saturday and, boy is it action packed! This remake of the classic of the same name still has the big ape climbing to the top of the Empire State building and batting at planes but the feel of the movie is very different. Peter Jackson really put his stamp on it.

Be prepared for the length of this movie folks. It’s 3 hours long (if I remember correctly but the island action shots are great and were really well made. They had the audience gasping and screaming at the appropriate points. Have to say though that the title of the movie could have been changed to Jurassic Park 4 instead and it would be a match!

The movie will be showing in the local cinemas beginning December 14, 2005 but will unfortunately have a short showing because of the Manila Film Festival. Hope you enjoy the film
